Week 16 - E-portfolio & Class wrap up

Before class

Please prepare for uploading your e-portfolio. Here are the things I suggest you to complete before class because we will practice how to upload tomorrow.

1. convert all word documents into pdf files.
2. edit the content and make links to the files.
3. edit the resources page in terms of the educational resources you think they will be useful.
4. select several weekly reflections. Copy and paste to your reflection page.

An e-portfolio open lab session will be held by me on May 1 (Tuesday) 3 pm - 5 pm at Educ 2025. This workshop is not required for attendance. If you have any questions, please come to the open lab session.

2) Complete the lesson plan peer review template (template- I'll bring hard copies)
3) Go through the peer review with your partner, discuss, and ask questions

1. Share and discuss lesson plan ideas
Share your 3 lesson plan ideas and give a brief introduction of the resources you plan to use in these ideas. Provide feedback and give your feedback and help each other select one idea to write an lesson plan later on.

Circle one idea you're going to write for the lesson plan, put your email address, any concerns and questions on the paper. You're very welcome to discuss detail with me in class or after class. I'll write you an email if you need help.

2. Evaluation educational resources (Slides)
Keep these criteria in mind when you select your lesson plan resources, such as websites. Also when we're doing the peer review, we're going to refer to these criteria as well.


3. Add more detail in your lesson plan (Slides
)
After going through the slides, download the template to complete your one lesson plan (expend from one lesson plan idea), upload your draft in your dropbox and bring a hard copy with you next week for peer review.

4. Meet with me to go through your e-portfolio template and get 5 points after class

The purpose of this activity is for you to conduct your own inquiry about the technology you're interested, develop a better understanding of your team topic, look for potential useful technology resources, build a resource link library on your team blog, and share your skills and knowldge in class. You may find some very interesting websites and you could think about how to integrate those in your lesson plan later. Also keep the content you're going to teach for this lesson plan in mind as well.

Activity Instruction (This assignment is also part of reflection 5) :
1. Search and Recommend 3 hotlinks about technologies related to your teamtopic. (You may start from google the topic, enter the keywords in wekipedia, or find information this pdf file)

2. Write an introduction for each hotlink--about the technology and how people can use it in educational settings, and a summary of your understanding in the team topic, such as google earth and how you can use google earch in class.

Critique of a Journal Article about Technology in Math Education (M321 and W301)

Based on the article you selected, use both the Assignment Instruction in M321 and Guidelines in W301 to explain your thoughts in the essay and support with evidence or specific examples in the journal article -

· What kind of technologies are used or integrated?
· How does the technology help students learn or help the teacher teach?
· To what extent does the technology enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning ?
· What are the advantages of using the technology mentioned in the article ?
· What are the possible limitations or concerns of using the technology?
